Austin Langenstein is a third generation race car driver who, in 2010, will be entering his second full season of competitive racing, driving in at least two new series: the INEX 600 Legends Semi-Pro Series and IMCA Dirt Modified Series; and possibly a 3rd, the Carolina USAC Ford Focus Midget Series.

In 2009/10 Austin drove the No. 7 FIREFOLD.com Bandolero Car in the INEX 600 Young Guns Series to 5 wins, 15 top 5’s and 3 top 10’s, with one mechanical DNF, on oval and road course tracks from Charlotte to Atlanta to Rockingham, NC.  During his short career Austin has established a reputation of being a young driver with maturity, patience and outstanding natural talent who has demonstrated a relentless competitive drive to win in virtually any racing venue.

When Austin began his racing career, he made a commitment to apply himself, both on and off of the race track, starting with a strict personal training program which included a healthy diet and 3 hours a day, 7 days a week in the gym working on strength and conditioning. Along with his physical training, Austin also works with Dr. Jacques Dallaire, renowned Sports Therapist, and his Performance Prime Group on maintaining the proper mental attitude and focus necessary to be a successful motorsports competitor.  Dr. Dallaire has worked with well over 600 high performance race car drivers and support personnel from just about every form of competitive racing throughout the world, and his list of clients is impressive.

“Austin is a dedicated young man who is putting his dream of becoming a professional racing driver into action every day”, noted Dr. Dallaire.  “His work ethic and commitment are unquestioned, which is truly unusual for someone of his young age”, he added.  “I believe Austin has the skills and temperament to make it big in motorsports and I’d encourage race teams to keep their eye on this young driver”.  He concluded, “Austin Langenstein is a name you will be hearing a lot of down the road”.

Austin started racing at age 8 in quarter midget competition and quickly moved thru the ranks into go-karts and then, in 2009/10, into the INEX 600 Racing “Young Guns” Bandolero Series where he posted an impressive record for a young unknown.

Because Austin is home schooled: maintaining an A+ average in academics; he is afforded the ability to adjust his daily schedule, which allows him to balance his schooling with his physical training and his on and off track commitments.

At the end of the 2009/10 season Austin’s father, KAR Racing Team owner Charlie Langenstein, and his inner circle of advisors, made the decision to move Austin up to more competitive racing, as it was apparent from his success in the Bandolero Series, he needed the challenge of running with more seasoned competition.  To accomplish this, KAR Racing plans to field two cars in two different series: a Legends Car in the INEX 600 Semi-Pro Series and a Dirt Modified Car in the IMCA Dirt Modified Series, providing Austin with two totally different types of cars and tracks on which to continue honing his talent.

In addition, Austin has been contacted by a Ford Focus Midget Team with an offer to provide him a “ride” for the 2010 USAC Sanctioned Carolina Ford Focus Midget Series.  If the decision is made to accept the offer, Austin will be competing in three totally different series in 2010.

“All this is a rather large commitment for a 16 year old in his second year of competitive racing”, noted Charlie, “but I’m confident Austin is up to the challenge”.  Pointing to his many years in racing; both in Dirt Modified with legendary drivers like Brett Hern, Will Cagle and Kenny Brightbill; to his association with NASCAR legends like Rob Morosco, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson; Charlie said he knows “what it takes to be a winner in this sport” and can see those very traits in his young protégé.  “I want Austin to be exposed to as many different types of racing as possible, “so he can develop the skills necessary to be a championship caliber driver”.

“I’m looking for opportunities to drive open wheel cars”, added the young driver.  “I love road course racing and the challenges that type of racing presents”.  “If I have the time, and the opportunity, I want to take a look at some of the road racing schools that are out there and possibly do some of that in the near future”, Austin added.

From the beginning of his racing career Austin said his dad has been stressing the need to acquire “lap time”, telling him, “you can walk up to the speed shop truck at the track and purchase a part that will hopefully make the car go faster, but” he continued, “that part can’t be a substitute for lap time”.  “And laps on the race track are what I intend to get this season”, he noted.

“As for the future?” he asked, somewhat talking to himself.  “If everyone on the team, including me, do our part and stay focused and committed, and not get side tracked from our plan, I feel we will have a lot to be proud of this year, and in the future”.  “When I look over my shoulder and see the group of people who have come together, all working for my success, I am truly thankful, for without them none of this would be possible”, Austin concluded.
